Access Groups
Access groups determine the nodes where operators can view and process work. A collection of access groups is called a super access group. Assigning a super access group to an operator gives that operator access to all of the nodes in all of the access groups that are in the super access group.
You assign a view access group and a work access group to each operator:
- An operator can view work at nodes in their view access group and work access group.
- An operator can process work at nodes in their work access group.
For example, you assign NODE1 to access group ACC1 and NODE2 to access group ACC2. An operator with work access group ACC1 can view and process work at NODE1. An operator with work access group ACC2 can view and process work at NODE2. An operator with access group ACC1 and view access group ACC2 can view and process work at NODE1 and view work at NODE2.
As a super access group example, you create the SGRP1 super access group that contains access groups ACC1 and ACC2. An operator with work access group SGRP1 can view and process work at NODE1 and NODE2.
You can define super access groups and then open the groups later to add the applicable access groups. However, to complete the definition of a super access group, you need to add two or more access groups.
When you define access groups, no other XTRAC components are needed.
Creating an Access Group
Note: To define an access group, you need the Create and Access Group security functions as part of the security group that is associated with your entitlement set.
To create an access group
- In Feature Explorer, click Environment.
- Click Access Groups.
- In the Access Group Summary window, click New.
- In the Access Group Detail window, in the Group Type section, click Access Group.
- In the Name field, enter a name for the access group (up to 30 characters).
- In the Description field, enter a description for the access group (up to 60 characters).
- (Optional) In the Comments field, enter a comment (up to 2000 characters).
- (Optional) If applicable, reorder the nodes that have been associated with this access group.
Defining a node with this access group assigned to it causes the node to appear in this access group node list. The Move Up and Move Down buttons move the selected node up or down. The order of nodes in an access group is significant only when operators are using cascade queue feed mode.
If you’ve filtered the list of nodes, XTRAC does not enable Move Up and Move Down until you click Reset Filter/Sort.
NOTE: If you have not yet defined any nodes, you can save this access group and come back later to reorder the nodes after you define them and associate them with this access group.
- (Optional) In the Change Request ID field, enter the change request ID (up to 30 characters).
- (Optional) In the Memo field, enter the reason for creating the access group (up to 60 characters).
- Click Save.
XTRAC saves the access group. The new access group appears in the Access Group Summary window.
